Benjamin Scott (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides TapKit Launcher, an Android home screen app. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the app, visit this website, or contact us.
TapKit Launcher does not have user accounts or display advertisements. It does not include advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or attribution SDKs, and we do not operate our own servers. The launcher is based on the open-source Lawnchair project, and some features connect to third-party services: online search suggestions are on by default, and other network features are optional. Sections 3 to 6 describe these connections. Information you choose to send by email and information processed by this Google Sites website are described separately below.

1. Information used on your device
TapKit Launcher uses information about apps available on your device to display them and let you open them. This includes the app information needed to show icons and identify which app to launch. We do not receive an uploaded copy of your installed app list.
The app also keeps the local settings needed to provide your launcher experience. We do not operate a server that stores your launcher settings or a TapKit Launcher account linked to them.
2. Permissions and device access
You can select TapKit Launcher as your default home app through Android settings. You can change this selection at any time. Permissions and special access can be managed in the relevant Android settings, subject to the controls available on your device.
App usage information
If you enable suggestions based on app usage and grant usage access, the launcher uses Android usage information, such as which apps were used, their last-used times, and their foreground usage duration, to rank suggested apps on your device. You can revoke usage access in Android settings.
Contacts
If you enable contact search and grant contacts permission, the launcher reads contact information, including names, phone numbers, and contact photo references, to show matching contacts in local search results. You can turn off contact search or revoke contacts permission. We do not receive an uploaded copy of your address book.
Photos, videos, and audio files
If you enable local media search and grant the relevant access, the launcher queries media information such as file names, types, locations, sizes, and modification dates to find and display matching items. Access is limited by the permissions and selections allowed by Android. We do not receive an uploaded copy of your media library.
Flashlight information
Where the flashlight status feature is available, it uses Android’s camera subsystem to detect the flashlight’s status and let you turn it off. This feature does not take photos or record video.
Notification information
If you enable notification access, the launcher reads the status of your notifications on your device to show notification dots on app icons, and can use media playback information to show a now-playing card on the home screen. This information is used on your device and is not uploaded by the launcher. You can revoke notification access in Android settings.
Accessibility service for gestures
If you enable gesture features such as turning off the screen, the launcher uses an accessibility service to perform these system actions. The service is configured not to read the content of your screen. You can disable it at any time in Android accessibility settings.
These optional features depend on the version you use and the access you grant. You can manage the available permissions and special access through your device settings.
Declaring a permission in an Android app does not mean that Android grants every access it names. Access depends on the permission, Android version, device configuration, and any authorization required by the system. If you restrict access, a feature that depends on it may be unavailable.
3. Search and online suggestions
TapKit Launcher includes search on your device: app search and the calculator run locally, and contact, file, and media search are described in Section 2.
Online search suggestions
Online search suggestions are enabled by default. When you type a query in the launcher’s search bar, the text you type is sent to your selected suggestion provider to retrieve suggested queries, even before you open a search result. Google is the default suggestion provider. DuckDuckGo, Startpage, and Kagi are also built in, and you can configure a custom provider. The provider receives network information, such as your IP address, when the request reaches its service.
Opening a web search result opens your browser or search app. From that point, the site or app you opened handles information under its own policies.
You can turn off online suggestions in the launcher’s search settings and use local search only. Each provider handles the requests it receives under its own privacy policy. We do not control its retention period, and clearing TapKit Launcher’s local storage does not delete records held by a search provider.
4. Optional diagnostic reports
If the app stops with an error, it saves a diagnostic report on your device automatically and shows a notification. A report can include the app version, source revision, device manufacturer and model, Android version and build details, security patch level, display configuration, and the error message and stack trace. Error details may also contain information associated with the operation that failed.
From the notification you can copy a report, share it through another app, or use the report upload action. The upload action sends the report to Katbin at katb.in and returns a link to the uploaded report. Katbin also receives network information such as your IP address when the upload request reaches its service. The upload uses a foreground service while the transfer is in progress. This is a separate feature from any third-party crash-reporting SDK.
Local report copies are removed when their notification is dismissed, or when you clear the app’s cache. Review a report before sharing it and do not include information you do not want the recipient to receive. You can choose not to share or upload a report. Clearing TapKit Launcher’s cache or storage does not delete a report you have already shared with another app or uploaded to an external service.
5. Information from the open-source project
TapKit Launcher is based on the open-source Lawnchair project. When you open the launcher’s settings, the app checks the project’s website, lawnchair.app, for service announcements and updated default values for some settings. The About screen also requests release and contributor information from GitHub when you open it. These services receive standard network information, such as your IP address, when the app contacts them.
We do not operate lawnchair.app or GitHub, do not control what they return or retain, and cannot delete any records they keep. Announcements and remote default values delivered through this check come from the open-source project and may change without our involvement.
6. Optional integrations
Smartspacer
If you switch the At a Glance area to Smartspacer mode, the launcher displays widgets provided by the separately installed Smartspacer app, using Smartspacer’s client SDK. Smartspacer and its plugins handle information under their own policies. You can switch to a different mode at any time in the launcher’s settings.
Google feed and At a Glance
The launcher can display an optional Google feed page and Google’s At a Glance content. These features are off unless you enable them, are provided by Google and the Google app, and are handled under Google’s policies.
7. Information you send by email
If you contact benjaminscott193@gmail.com, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to respond to you and investigate the issue or request you raise.
Please send only what is needed to explain your request. Do not send passwords or payment details. Remove unrelated personal information from screenshots before sending them.
Our contact address uses Gmail, so Google processes those emails as part of providing its email service. This is separate from data processing inside TapKit Launcher.
8. Sharing information
We do not sell personal information or provide app data to advertising or analytics providers.
When you use the network features described in Sections 3 to 6, the services involved receive the information described there: your selected search suggestion provider; Katbin (katb.in), if you upload a diagnostic report; and lawnchair.app and GitHub, when the app checks project information. Each of these services also receives network information such as your IP address and handles it under its own policy. We do not control their retention of that information.
Support correspondence is handled through our email service. We may disclose information if required by applicable law or a valid legal request. We do not use support messages to create advertising profiles.
Apps that you open from TapKit Launcher are provided by their respective developers and handle information under their own privacy policies. This policy does not describe the practices of every app on your device.
9. This website
This website is hosted on Google Sites. When you visit it, Google may process information such as your IP address, browser information, and cookies under the Google Privacy Policy.
The way Google hosts this website is separate from the way TapKit Launcher processes information on your Android device. Your browser settings may let you manage or restrict cookies.
10. Retention and deletion
Local app settings remain on your device until they are reset or removed. You can clear TapKit Launcher’s app storage through Android settings to reset locally stored app data. This does not delete the original contacts, photos, or other files maintained outside the launcher. Backups or copies managed separately by your device, another app, or a service must be managed through that provider.
Backups you create. If you use the backup feature, the app writes a backup file to the location you choose. Depending on the options you select, it can contain your launcher layout, preferences, a home screen preview, and wallpaper. Clearing TapKit Launcher’s storage does not delete exported backups. To delete a backup, remove the exported file from where you saved it, including any copies kept by your storage provider.
Uploaded diagnostic reports. A report you uploaded to Katbin cannot be deleted by us or by clearing TapKit Launcher’s data. Local report copies are removed when their notification is dismissed or when you clear the app’s cache.
We keep support emails while they are needed to answer your request, resolve an ongoing issue, or meet an applicable legal obligation. When they are no longer needed for those purposes, we delete them. You can also request deletion of your support correspondence by contacting benjaminscott193@gmail.com.
TapKit Launcher does not provide user accounts, so there is no TapKit Launcher account to close and no account profile on our servers to delete. You can still make a request about personal information you have sent to us, including email correspondence.
11. Security
Locally stored app information is subject to your device’s storage and access protections. We limit access to support correspondence to handling support and privacy requests. Keep your device and operating system updated, and use a screen lock to help protect access to your information.
No method of electronic storage or transmission can guarantee complete security. If you believe information connected with TapKit Launcher has been exposed or misused, contact benjaminscott193@gmail.com.
12. Your choices and rights
You can manage available permissions, change your default home app, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall TapKit Launcher through Android settings. The settings names and locations may vary by device.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information held about you, or to object to or restrict certain uses. Where applicable, you may also withdraw consent or complain to a data protection authority.
To make a request, email benjaminscott193@gmail.com. We may ask for limited information needed to verify that the request relates to you and identify the relevant records. We will handle requests in accordance with applicable law. If information must be retained for a legal reason, we will explain the reason and the applicable retention period.
13. Children’s privacy
TapKit Launcher does not offer accounts, advertising, or analytics SDKs, including for younger users. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has sent personal information to us by email, contact benjaminscott193@gmail.com. We will review the request and delete information where appropriate or required by law.
14. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our data practices change and revise the effective date above. Where required, we will provide an additional notice or request consent before making a relevant change.
